Big Bang Theory – Can you go back?

As I mentioned in a previous post, I’m an undercover geek. One of my guilty geeky pleasures is watching the Big Bang Theory (CBS on Mondays 9:30/8:30 C).  I luuuuuv that show. For my non-geeky followers, let me overview the show.

The Big Bang Theory is about four super-smart friends who work at  Caltech University. The two main characters, Sheldon (a theoretical physicist) and Leonard (an experimental physicist), are roommates. They live across the hall from the ultimate hot girl, Penny. Penny, unlike our prodigy scientist, is an aspiring actor and works at the Cheesecake Factory.

Big Bang highlights the trials and tribulations faced by those with superior intellect, but lacks the social skills needed to interact in normal society. Penny is the guys’ link to the normal world. Eventually, opposites attract and Penny and Leonard becomes a couple. Then because of their differences, they end up breaking up. The show is filled with witty humor that you might need to think twice about or get a science/math book to interpret, unless you are a super-geek in disguise.

This week’s episode brought up an interesting topic. Can you have casual one-night stands with someone you dated before? Penny get upset at a date gone wrong. She come home drunk and decides to have sex with Leonard.

Let’s tackle the one-nighter. Okay, there are many pros about this concept. One, you know your partners performance capabilities. If you’re really looking for one night of stress relief, you hate to risk it on the chance that your partner will not live up to your expectations. With an ex, you know what you’re getting. Two, you already know what they like so you don’t have to learn anything new. There is also a comfort level already established. They already know what you look like naked so you don’t have to worry about how they view your body. Last but not least, you get satisfied (hopefully).

Now the cons. Yes guys, there are cons. Most men don’t realize them until after the sex and they can’t get the clingy old girlfriend to stop calling or stopping by. Cause guess what? They think you’re back together again, especially if it is a fresh break up.  A new cycle of grief must begin all over again. So you have newly slashed tires and naked pics of you uploaded on your intranet site at work. Also, this new sexual encounter might just push them over the edge to stalker status. Women, all these things apply to you too.

What is Vivi’s advice? Don’t look back unlessen you plan to get back together or the coitus is phenomenal. (Exceptions can be made for superior performance.) There is enough strange out there that you don’t have to open up old wounds. So, think wisely before you get drunk up and end up in the sack with that old girlfriend or boyfriend.

  1. It’s good to know that someone knows the Big Bang Theory. I can name almost everyone in this show except the one who is desperate for the girl. Penny and Leonard already broke up, but they’re still having sex. Friends-who-have-sex (said by Leonard).

Sheldon is actually smarter than everyone in this movie. Especially Leonard. Penny, on the other hand can only remember the restaurant menu.

Well, I remember that rotten author writer had sex with Leonard and Raz. But not the desperate one.

Still I think Sheldon is my favorite since everybody else is dumb. :)

    • Thanks for stopping by Andrew. I love Sheldon. He’s my fav. I enjoy his biting humor and his bigger than life ego. The one who’s desperate for the girl is Wolowitz. And I feel so sorry for him sometime. He tries so hard.

      It’s a great show.

      • I love watching the Big Bang Theory except when Leonard acts as if he’s the boss of Sheldon. Another fact that I would like to point out is the fact that Penny (in the lat episode) dated Zack then got drunk and had sex with Leonard. Then, Leonard got drunk and tried to have sex with Penny. Well, she kicked him out harshly. :)

  2. Really great writing! Honest!
